New Year's Day 2005 (Mount Joy, PA): This wine might have shown slightly better if it wasn't following the Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend. However, even so, it was a less complex wine. Currants, hints of cherries, and some oaky astringency on the nose, followed by a mix of cherries and oak on the palate. To my taste, there was too much wood on the palate, which detracted from the fruit. With less wood, this might have been a reasonable food-friendly wine.

Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering. Cherry. Very chewy and rustic, a bit astingent.
