Still an inky powerful wine dominated with tobacco, asphalt, road tar, and, in the end, a lack of fruit. This wine is highly concentrated, but not in balance. Fruit has waned and left the wine tasting a bit like slurry seal. I no longer hold out hope for improvement, but keep one bottle in the cellar per chance to prove me wrong. part of the learning process.

Still a powerful brute, young and brash, with inky teeth staining purple. The nose is full of black fruit with plum, tobacco, spice box, tar, and scorched earth. All well integrated in an attractive nose. This is still an extremely young wine, with dominating blackberry, oak and black cherry on the palate. The tannins are still very primary showing a powerful presence on the finish. I believe this wine will improve over the next 10 years and drink well for longer than that. It is an evolving beast.

Stong barnyard nose that didn't seem to blow off even after a few hours in the decanter. Didn't seem to do much on the palate either. Fairly smooth, but not much fruit. Somewhat thinner then I would expect from a Syrah.

Decanted 1 hr. Tobacco, tar, leather, and blackberry on the nose. Thick, gamey, and meaty blackberry flavors with underlying black pepper and little blueberry hints before the nice finish. Tannins are still significant, but softer and well integrated. Still needs a little decant time, this is drinking very well now.

A beautiful, iodine-laden syrah with a beautiful round palate, nice long finish. Got to find more!
