Nice funk on the nose, that doesn't really carry through on the palate. Fairly simple dark fruits, black cherry notes on the palate. Shortish finish. Could use some more time in the cellar, opened up nicely over a couple of hours.

Drank after an Andrew Rich 2004 Willamette Valley Pinot. Paired with a roast duck and red cabbage. Decanted for about 10 minutes. Brick color, noticeable traces of oxidization. Slightly cloudy? Even fizzy? Pleasant fruity aromas at first, then replaced with a strange port-like bouquet. Hmm. The wine even tasted fizzy, spoiled. We were going to dump it, but then something very odd happened. After about 15 minutes, it cleared up, the fizziness was gone and replaced with nice fruit-forward flavors of ripe strawberries. What a change!

Very lively acidity stands out. Pure cherry core and dry finish. Still drinking well.
