  • ‘Tonyi’ not ‘togni’. Spicier, stronger than I expected. Full bodied, grippy tannins. Surprisingly high acidity. Hard to guess it’s a Napa cab. However it’s a Margaux style, allegedly. Smells nice, blackberry, oak, butter, slight hint of milk. Hope to taste another vintage later.

  • I wish I had taken Ric Forman’s advice and bought Togni alongside my Forman for the last decade. I didn’t. I’m a fool.

Great wine and a decent QPR. Aging well, this doesn’t age like a Forman. Acidity seems lower and cooperage is more evident. Also fruit seems ripe but balanced against the rest of the profile.

  • I have earlier vintages going to 2007 of Togni, and I had this first when I should have it last of my supply. Nice pop and cork great, no infiltration, and stained deep purple. Bouquet of empty wine barrels coated with grape must, very nice. No fruit, muted, but incredible power lurking. Half hour and began to appear. Fruit began to appear slowly, like blotter paper soaking up water. Wine is now fruit forward and close to incredible. Not silky, but had a good fruit profile. Feeling this at back sides of tongue. This is a well made wine I almost wrote off but knew better. Now 2 days later. It has changed but held together. A bit of funk appeared, but gone third day. Last small glass had considerable sediment. This kept getting better in the glass the first day, then settled in the second. I think having this at the 10 year mark wasn't the mistake i felt it would be. Other reviewers state the is a 30 year wine, and no doubt it may be, but I would have this on the early side to enjoy the fruit concentration.

  • A great bottle of wine. Lots of cedar and plum and the nose, equaled on the palate. This is early drinking - it needed at least an hour to develop. Should be good for decades.
