Side-by-side with the Lafarge 89 Chenes. Both impressive. More black cherry here and more concentration of fruit. Nicely complex with earth, spice and florals. The sturdier of the two wines.

Joyce Farms vs. Green Circle (Chicago, IL): This is a bit darker in complexion from the fruit, both on the nose and palate. While the Lafarge edition of this wine featured more crystalline red fruit, this was more of a cooked black fruit profile. Slightly more leathery and tannic as well (and maybe just not as resolved), I nonetheless very much enjoyed the clean fruit profile here.
