  • Soft and delicate, subtle fruit. Very good

  • I purchased 6 bottles from a very good cellar. All fills are mid neck or better! Today (right now) is my first bottle and I am impressed by the purple color extending to the edge with just the barest hint hint of brown edging. I aerated and decanted it. There is a lot of sediment suggesting little or no filtration and fining. The little nose that is there is clean black and red fruit. I can see no legs (old eyes in a dark room) and swirling does not improve the nose. In the mouth iit has medium body and very little oak. It is fruit forward (after 20 years) but balanced by silky smooth tannins. The acidity is perfect making it a pleasure to drink. The finish is smooth and reasonably long. I'm drinking it with a light vegan meal but I could easily drink this by itself. It might even improve over the next 5 years in a cool humid cellar but a wine drinking this good should be drank. Cheers! Perhaps the lower ratings are due to bottle condition? Proper storage is so important. This bottle is a conservative 93 points. What a pleasant surprise.

  • We had the 2000 with the Allen Brothers Ribcap’s. Might have been the most tender cut of meat we had. Even more tender than their Bone-in Fillets. Allen Brothers is currently selling to consumers during Covid-19 as most restaurants are shut or barely open. Order online before the go back to restaurant only sales. You’ll be glad you did. You can see on their site what revered steakhouses they sell the beef etc. Cooked them in the Green Egg. 👌

Perhaps the first 2000 that I’ve opened that was truly ready. Yet, it will improve for another 5-7 years and hold for another 5-10 years properly stored.

The tannins were round and supple...like velvet. Good balance fruit & earth. The structure, tension, length and balance just hit a good stride. Dark, rich, but, muted fruits, dark chocolate, mocha powder, touch of caramel, nicely layer baking spices, dark rich earth, clay, stone, fresh, soft tobacco notes, saddle-wood, soft graphite notes with fresh & withering dark flowers. The acidity nice & round...definitely shows the strength of the vintage. The finish, well balanced-knitted, plush, velvety, flat out elegant & smooth.

  • this bottle was singing, beef juice, soy and dried plum on the nose, balanced by a core of acidity, balanced, precise, dried strawberry and mineral fill the mouth with every sip, not a complex wine but a well constructed beauty that is drinking perfectly right now, best match is with a rare steak or some lamb

  • Not much of a nose. It was smooth and silky to drink however. I tend to agree with other reviewers that this is not going to get better to drink than it is now. You will not be disappointed to drink now!
