  • Very pretty nose that leans quite red fruited with cherries, graphite, and cassis. It feels like a brighter version of a classic Bordeaux and improved drastically with air. Good acidity on the palate and excellent balance with more cherry notes, a bit of cassis, and underwood. Long finish. This is still quite primary but is actually showing really well right now. Probably not the most powerful Mouton, but it is absolutely delicious and built to age. 96+

  • [Decanted for 4 hours prior to consumption]

Surprisingly approachable for what is a relatively very young wine. The nose is prolific with blueberries and peat moss/ forest floor. The wine is just gorgeous on the palate, featuring dried cassis and a definitive Asian spice on the finish that is utterly beguiling. This will undoubtedly be a legendary wine in ten years' time.

  • JA, The grilled character on the opening beats is more campfire than gunsmoke, just a little warmer and more evident than with the Lafite, meaning both estates are very much staying true to their character. Here you get waves of peony and rose petals, with raspberry and damson fruits, feels expansive and complex, punctuated by orange peel, pomegranate, leather, espresso, black tea, sweet smoked caramel, with plenty of lift and caressting tannins. Delicious, and growing into a spectacular wine as it ages. 100% new oak, Philippe Dhalluin director.

  • Beautiful wine. More elegant than a Latour, Cheval Blanc, Haut Brion and Margaux we had the same night. It did not “wow” me, though, until I had it with food. Was the best pairing of the reds with braised spare ribs and truffled potatoes, which muted the tannins a bit.

  • Decanted 5 hours but still too young to be drunken. Wait if you can...
