PnP. Good fill around the 2.5-3cm mark. Cork completely soaked but came out in one piece. Nice color with a medium garnet only browning towards the rim. Sous bois on the nose, palate is clean with some remaining fruit but also notes of vegetable reminding of the exceptionally poor vintage. Better than the 72 Mouton we had last year but does not come close to the Latour produced in this challenging vintage...
Very surprised that this vintage is still very much alive and even the color showed little bricking, a pleasant surprise indeed and dranked well for 2 hours. Classic Bordeaux old wine, this really show what a good winemaker can do in lesser vintage years.
My friends and I drank this on Saturday to celebrate our collective 40th birthdays (same age as the wine). We were a bit worried as this is not from one of the better vintages. Even the sommelier suggested we not decant this and drink within 45 minutes of opening. All of us were very pleasantly surprised. Great wine. Everyone followed the general advice and drank it pretty quickly. I saved a bit and finished it 1.5 hours after opening. At that point, still did not show any signs of fade.
