  • For our 31st anniversary at Mitch and Toni's. Perfectly stored, from Winebid. Deep red with no bricking whatsoever. Improved over the two hours we enjoyed it. Ringer for a mid-mature Pessac-Leognan cru, but more fruit, less minerally, with lots of metallic earth on palate. Smooth and elegant. Drying tannins emerge only after 60 minutes in glass. Drink now-2020.

  • Purchased for $10.64 at Liquor Barn in 1984. With Kathy at home at dinner (risotto with roasted red peppers and sun-dried tomatoes). An extremely attractive wine. Still very dark. Nearly opaque right to the edge. Nose stunning. Lots of highly extracted Cabernet aromas; "essence of Cabernet" jumps from the glass. Very attractive on the palate, very deep. Blackcurrant predominates. Great balance. Luscious. Complex. At its peak? If so, glorious in its old age; doesn't seem eight years old, and probably could go at least several or five more years. 5-12-17-8: 92/100.
