Impressive for the vintage! Not thin at all, medium to full body, lush crushed raspberries and red fruits. Very silky, PnP, delicious. Enjoy now, its a really good example of the region for a bargain - $48 on futures in 2017. One of the good wines of 2014.

Auntie Ro’s Birthday Dinner (Hawksmoor Knightsbridge): 2014 merlot face off. Lovely nose - all cigar box, dark fruits. On the palate - somewhat precise, some freshness still, but a slightly drying finish almost as if the oak is still not integrated. Of the two, the table’s favourite, and if I had more I’d be leaving it for a few years before opening the next.

PnP. Dark red color with subtle purple hews. Similar to previous notes in that it’s more Napa than Bordeaux. Definitely young but has nice texture and depth. Baking spices and dark fruit dominate. Even has some Syrah elements. Don’t know why I don’t drink/buy more of this as it’s always pleasing.

Opened the night before tasting. The wine is deep ruby coloured, with still purple hints, has a good viscosity and quite slow legs. The nose is fresh, elegant, almost "left bank" due to the little percentage of Cab. Sauvignon in the blend, that is pretty evident. Cassis purée, blackberries, elderberries, bay leaf, scorched earth, humus, espresso, hibiscus, graphite, chocolate sauce, gingerbread, dried mushrooms.. Great acidity, racy attack, medium bodied and classical great St. Emilion minerality. The moutfeel is packed with black fruits, chocolate, tobacco, with a minty freshness throughout. Good lenght, silky present tannins. This wine is very delicate and smooth right now, after a good amount of air. I believe this needs 3 to 5 more years tu fully bloom. It will be a pleasurable wine for at least 10 years from now on given its structure. Classic and beautiful St. Emilion to drink now or hold a few more.

Decanted a few hours. The nose is expressive screaming- I am ready! Red fruit, vanilla, with hints of tobacco and oak. Full bodied, tannins are present but not overpowering…long finish. Ripe cherry, leather, and green pepper on the palate. Very enjoyable. Drink now.
