Top should fill with light signs of past seepage under the capsule. Cork was totally soaked. Wine seemed fine as it opened up after about 1hr and was expressive for the 4hrs until it was gone. Eucalytus/mint and leather nose with some dried dark fruits. Repeating mint note of the palate with mostly tertiary fruit. A little austere and thin, and it still has some prominent tannins on he back end. But has depth and complexity that only a well made 25yr old wine has. Despite the fruit being mostly tertiary at the point, appears to have plenty of structure to hold on for some time. Still, probably won't improve so mine will be drunk up as at some point it may come across as dry and austere. Perfect match for a top sirloin roast.
Pnp, med deep garnet color, typical St Estephe nose of sturdy bouquet of leather, hint of tobacco leaf. Sweet fruit in mouth with tannin desolved at large. Soft and lush. Med acidity here provide a complete experience. Lovely and value for money.
