Deep dark crimson red color. A very expressive nose as I decanted the bottle. After decanted for an hour there were essence of blueberries, toast, cedar shavings, bing cherries, cassis and ripe figs. On the palate there were layers of ripe figs, dark cherries, cassis, blueberries and blackberries. The tannins and acidity are still pronounced but in balance. The remaining bottles in our cellar should be pleasurable over the next ten years.

Third bottle from a case from our oldest child’s birth year, celebrating double digits for him now.
As I write this note we are 6.5 hours from the wine being decanted. The nose has evolved constantly while it’s been open. The structure of the wine is still pretty big. Lots of tannin and this bottle seems more acidic than previous ones. But everything is in balance.
The wine is starting to get a light rim, but everything else is still showing quite young. This is in a great spot right now. I believe this wine still has a long life ahead of it.

Dark and intense. Short-ish finish. Can drink now or hold.

Black raspberry, plum, anise, spice box, orange zest, sage, graphite, cedar, light florals.
Finish is a bit shorter than I’d like to see.
