This is in a good place, soft and substantive. On the nose it features wild game, muddled cherry, violet, black plum, blackberry, and sage. Medium bodied with long, smooth tannin and spearmint flavored slightly juicy acid that delivers a great textural experience. The structure is not only on point, but additive. Flavors include blackberry, black currant, black spiced plum, hickory, and black pepper. Theres a lot to like, but it trails off quickly and with a slightly bitter edge. Best with food. I’d wager this isn’t getting any better. Don’t sit on it.

Exactly one month after the first time we tried this wine the same friend brought another bottle over. This time picked up more of a slate, flinty rocks flavor in the wine. Still has the fruit. Drank next to an '07 Constant Syrah which was probably a bit deeper although this has that feel as well. Interesting contrast to the wines (Constant very much traditional California).

Friend brought this over to drink with the conference championship football games. Great wine and excellent for the price. Was a bit skeptical since I don't think of Oregon for Syrah, but this was a nice rich one with great fruit and a good earthy tone. Glad to have gotten a chance to try.
