Tasted blind in a line up of 10 1998, it was the surprise of the night. Nobody pinpointed it and probably has the edge over Smith Haut Lafite. Ripe black fruits and undergrowth on the nose. Good attack and refined tannins, very well structured wine, balanced and with potential for more age. Leather, underbrush and hints of meatiness.
Opened a 375ml bottle. Deep ruby in color. Earthy, tobacoo and rich leather in nose. Velveth structure but medium body. Tasted like meaty with some fruit remaining. Interesting that there was some medium grassy, earthy taste in finish after some acidity. I think it won't be evolving anymore, so better drink it during these few years.
