  Smelled a bit off atr first but opened up over time. Not comkplex, but very drinkable. Decent fruit, good table wine.

  Bright garnet in color. Muted aromas were not promising. Palate very interesting: cassis and vanilla with a dusting of cocoa and some herbal notes. Soft and medium bodied.

  My first blend of this sort, which I popped and decanted for about 2 hours. Dark, translucent pomegranite-like color with a bit of syrah-spiced cherry, plumb and young applewood on the nose (which I think stems from the chardonnay). Medium-bodied with tart, almost sour cherry and dark pomegranite/watermelon flavors in the mouth. There is an unpleasantly sharp acidity that cuts through the palate, so it seems a bit discombobulated with the touch of heat that takes over on the finish.
  Overall I think this is an engagingly difficult wine to score...on the one-hand I like the layers of flavors, and the particular fruit and spice profiles involved, but I just don't like the way they meet in the mid-palate and mesh at the finish. It's almost like all of the pieces of the puzzle are not here. This is my first Flowers wine, and I haven't the slightest clue whether or not time will piece this one together. What I can tell you, though, is that I only had one of these Perennials, and I am not running to find more.
