Community Tasting Notes (37) Avg Score: 91.9 points

  • From another good looking bottle, this wine took four+ hours to show its best (as usual).

It was rich and viscous and yet possessed great acidity. In fact, it had pretty much everything one could want in a white Burg, except that it had a touch of excess wood showing.

Please see my other notes for more details. Ready to drink with extended aeration.

  • From an excellent looking bottle with a 2 cm fill, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose offered up baguette, vanilla, white stone, and lemon.

As usual, this wine took 4+ hours to show its best. It had plenty of power and richness but it also had crisp acidity and excellent length. This wine had enough power and complexity to score 94 points but was held back by a touch of excess oak.

This wine is just in the middle of its drinking window. It has 10 more years of enjoyability ahead.

  • From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. This wine was quite tight for the first hour or so, to the point where it seemed like it might be flawed. Yet 3 hours latter, the medium+ intensity nose showed vanilla, apples, lemons, and some white stone.

In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with crisp acidity and great length. Its balance was perfect.

This wine is right in the zone. While it will easily last for 5-10 years, I doubt it will get better.

  • As is typical, I opened the worst looking bottle from this new batch first. It a 3.5 cm fill and a slightly darker color that the other bottles.

This bottle had a yellow/gold center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose showed vanilla, lemons, lychee nut, and white stone.

In the mouth, this wine was a bit acidic for the first 4 hours. It opened up slowly, despite the inferior condition, to show great balance, complexity, and length.

While drinking, this wine shows every indication of lasting another 5-10 years in the cellar.

  • In decline - still enjoyable, but a shadow of its former self - tasted from 375, so could be that larger formats holding better
