Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Willamette Auction #2 - Dinner at Bethel Heights (Salem, Oregon): Served next to a 2012 Walter Scott Freedom Hill, with smoked green farro and morels, great pairing. Well stored bottle from Bethel's cellars

Dark ruby core color, mild separation but only minor signs of fading. Nose of dark cherry, herbs, slightly medicinal. Palate of dusted dark berries, raspberry compote, herbs and baking spice. Medium mouthfeel, elegant, medium but layered finish.

WOuld have guessed this was past its prime, maybe it is but still drinking well. Well stored bottle from Bethel's cellars, this one surprised everyone to the upside, WOTN for me. Showing Oregon may have more ageing potential than commonly believed (?). Hard to compare to anything, so no rating...just very nice wine showing well on a great evening.
