  • This 2012 is probably near the top. Do decant, as pleasure kicks in after two to three hours. Tuscan earthly cherries, somewhat restraint, but impeccable. A great wine in a great spot. Alcohol at 15% is there, but does not intrude. A real delight at 94 point cruising speed. (From magnum).
Add - later in the evening - a 2010 bottle to the discussion. Same storyline, but so much more body. 96 ? 97 ? So much body just leaping from the bottle in the first ten minutes, and continuing to run. 2012 is where it will end, with three plus years at this level. 2010 still is barely settling into maturity. What an amazing wine.

  • Very similar impressions to my September 2023 comments. This has it all when looking for a great Italian red wine. So clean and robust.

  • Pnp. Bright cherry with crushed flower petals. Very prominent tannins with bright acidity.
Day two. Really opened up. Dark cherry some cola with bright acidity and tame tannins.
Day three. Dark cherry with some savory notes like leather, tannins have reduced to a silky finish.

Really a very nice bottle. If serving for a meal, recommend at least one hour decant.

  • Beautiful - enjoyed from PnP but better after decant. Lovely red and dark fruits with an already complex nose and palette (actually I thought it seemed a bit older than it was). Plenty of tannin, yet elegant, that integrated after decant - nice structure. Lighter than the 2010 but in a good way. Really enjoyed it - yum.

  • Nose for days this wine smells of chocolate and prunes. Classic Italian earth dirt, the 2012 is at an optimal drinking time with lots of room for aging. Tasting notes of all the cherries, figs and tobacco leaves the flacc also comes complete with a long and elegant finish. I am so happy I got the chance to drink it in this state. Wish I had more of these to try yoy!
