  Pristine cork and age appropriate color are immediately promising, but no, there’s a bit of varnish in the bouquet with butterscotch and nutty elements as well. Hints of citrus on the palate, so there is some charm in this bottle, but certainly not what it should be.

  Deep, deep yellow. Forward nose of ripe yellow apple, pineapple apple, lemon and spice. Mouth coating palate. The ripe fruit balanced well by acidity. Long finish. Prime time now.

  Half bottle format. It was very Corton on the nose with modest pineapple, yellow fruits, aromatic and quite powerful, on the palate, the wine carried great complexity and minerality, pretty good layers of white and yellow fruits, a touch of creamy roasted nuts on the finish.

  Fully mature with secondary notes of almonds on display this wine is at its peak and all four participants agreed the 2005 is absolutely beautiful and ready. The wine of the night.
