| | Tasted by pilsbry on 1/7/2010 & rated 92 points: Lovely Syrah, showing very well. A bit gamey (in a good way). Great color and length. Not terribly complex, but satisfying. (121 views) |
| | Tasted by pgm on 11/25/2008 & rated 88 points: Closer to the 8/14 (great) bottle than the 9/30 (ungreat) bottle, it's got some meat and smoke and vitamin pill notes (I guess that's a less off-putting medicinal note than I found in the last bottle...), with some clean but slightly thin blackberry notes. This is nicely aged. Time to drink these. (577 views) |
| | Tasted by pgm on 9/30/2008 & rated 83 points: This bottle was past its prime. Some nice red fruit on the palate, bright raspberry and orange peel, but with some off notes of bandaid and chloraseptic throat spray. I'll drink my last bottle very soon and hope that it's a bottle as nice as the previous one, which had much more black fruit remaining. (637 views) |
| | Tasted by pgm on 8/14/2008 & rated 90 points: This was very nice. Definitely showing some age in both bricking at the rim and in its flavor profile. Red fruit and still some dark rich fruits (gaining weight with air, which was a little surprising). Meaty, smoky, exemplary. Liked it a lot, and I'd say definitely ready to drink. (625 views) |
| | Tasted by Icarus on 6/7/2008 & rated 90 points: First of two bottles purchased recently. Excellent nose featuring red fruit, smoke, bacon and floral notes. Not quite as impressive in the mouth. Has a smooth texture and good flavor but the flavor intensity is flat. A bit on the acidic side. Nice finish. I don't see any reason to hold these any longer. May even be slightly past peak. | | Tasted by borneman on 4/2/2008 & rated 89 points: Last botttle of a case may be best bottle yet. Nicely matured with chocolate and garigue on the nose. Velvety tannins and good balance with fruit and secondary flavors. Much better than expected. Drinking at its best now. (924 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 12/11/2007: Nice mature nose, but on the pallet nothing but bitter saddlle leather. No discernible fruit left. Officially over the hill. (1105 views) |

Tasted November 10, 2007 at an offline. Nose of roasted meat and band aid. Flavors of black fruits. A bit subdued. Medium to high acidity, firm tannins, medium to full body. Hold. (1140 views) |
| | Tasted by mdstenner on 7/14/2007 & rated 88 points: Has peaked, but still very nice juice. Funk, as before on the nose, and licorice, garrigue, and spice. More red fruits on the palate than before, slightly thinning at the end, with a little more acidity. Perhaps a slightly flawed bottle, but still drinkable and enjoyable. (1403 views) |
| | Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 5/25/2007 & rated 88 points: Tasted at home over two hours after decanting. Moderate sediment. Deep red robe with garnet rim. Clean nose, with quite intense aromas of smokey bacon, roasted meats, black fruit and herbs. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, ample dry tannins and similar flavors as for the nose. The middle has filled in substantially since my last tasting (3/27/03). Medium, dry finish. This wine has more structure than I originally estimated. It will probably remain a pleasant drink but the tannins are tough and I doubt that the fruit/tannin balance will allow them to ever fully settle down. (855 views) |
| | Tasted by enosnob on 1/11/2007: Flat, bitter, way past its prime (1092 views) |
| | Tasted by BuckeyeSmitty on 11/24/2006 flawed bottle: Not actually flawed, but unfortunately past it's time. It still had a good nose, but almost no taste whatsoever. Given the other recent TNs on this wine, I'm guessing that my bottle's problems were a result of poor handling on my part. (1791 views) |
| | Tasted by wineismylife on 10/14/2006 & rated 89 points: win's 40th Birthday Party (win's house in The Colony, TX): WIML89,WA87-89,NOWS
Tasted October 14, 2006 at win’s 40th birthday party. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series Bordeaux wine glass. Somewhere between dusty rose and garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Huge bacon fat nose that pegs it as Northern Rhone with some roasted meat. Yum. Not quite as pleasing on the palate, mainly raspberries and maybe red berries. I’d like the opportunity to try this again by itself. (2469 views) |

| | Tasted by vlodko on 6/3/2006 & rated 92 points: Absolustely fantastic. Shared it with friends, paired with grilled lamb marinated in pomegranate juice. Can you say "heaven?" (1964 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 5/7/2006: This wine is improving since last tasted, maturing into an elegant northern Rhone. (2320 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 11/18/2005 & rated 88 points: Relieved that remaining stash isn't all corked. This bottle was very nice, with elegant flavors of black cherry. (2730 views) |
| | Tasted by DianeR on 11/13/2005: Nose of green olives. The wine met with mixed grimaces when I served it. On the palate... more olive, with some pepper and dried fruit. Definitely not the hedonistic wine I was expecting. (2543 views) |
| | Tasted by bk on 11/13/2005 & rated 91 points: 8 wine blind tasting with 2000 CDP and '02 Australian syrah this finished the night ranked the second wine. Fruit and acidity compared well with young CDP. (2309 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 11/10/2005: This was an off bottle. May have been corked or at very least, just tasting like a wet rag. Dumped it out. Hopefully the remaining bottles are OK. (2713 views) |
| | Tasted by mdstenner on 8/5/2005 & rated 90 points: A big nose, with funk, and then black pepper, black currants and licorice with time. The palate opens very quickly, with earth and mineral, as well as more black currant and licorice. Bone dry finish. Very good for the money. (2381 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 6/17/2005: Mold on top of cork, but wine wasn't tainted. Took an hour or more to open up. Once opened it displayed delicate spice, a little fruit and oak characteristics. (2800 views) |
| | Tasted by borneman on 4/9/2005 & rated 87 points: Nose of cherry and chocolate. Whiffs of mature oak. On the palate, light and delicate, much more than I would have expected, but pleasant berry flavors. A little over-powered by the bitter radichio and aragula salad we served. Would go well with lighter flavored foods. (2700 views) |
| | Tasted by bk on 3/5/2005 & rated 88 points: Ruby colored, delicate nose. Smooth tannin slight pepper. Sweet, lush fruit. Strawberries on the finish. This is delicate and mature but had with grilled chicken and herb sausages tonight and it held up well. Very lovely. (2452 views) |
