From a zalto burgundy glass. This is my first Ruchottes (or anything from the glass). This comes across as more elegant and lithe than my expected stereotype of Gevrey.
The half glass that's left after about 4 hours shows a bit of shy nose. What's there is very very appealing though - cool, herby, strawberry - and w/ just a hint of funk/forest floor lurking. On the palate, this shows signs of red fruit framed by silky tannins. Medium body, good acidity/well balanced. Nice tang w/ a nice long finish.
I've had 2 other glasses from this bottles previously thanks to the coravin. The last glass was a lot more powerful after maybe an hour or two. This time it seems to be more built to please rather than show off.
Either way, this seems like a good value/QPR for aged Burgundy - and probably has plenty of time left.

All 9 Gevrey Grand Crus (Straits Clan, Singapore): A different animal from the 2002 Roumier Ruchottes on the same flight, but really nice in its own way. The nose here was rather spicier, a bit dirtier and earthier as well, but with a nice touch of strawberries and cherries running on behind, and a waft of bacony meatiness at this edges. Very attractive. The palate was closer to the Roumier, with a nice elegance to it, showing silky tannins and soft acidity draped over a nice core of dark cherries and berries, these seasoned with a nice bit of warm spice that pulled away into an earthy, meaty end. Really delicious and satisfying, and very easy to drink. Lovely stuff, showing very nicely tonight.

Good balance of taut fruit with more open aromas. Elegant, thoughtful, with long finish. Nice purity and precision. One hour decant to get started. Firmness with nuance; very well done.

Really in very good place with a balance of fruit and more gamey, secondary, flavours and a bit of a wild edge. I've never found this wine particularly closed but it is growing up nicely.

Very good indeed. Gamey, funky, a bit wild but with acidity and nicely resolved tannin. Perhaps a tiny bit hot on the finish, especially when first opened. But wide open and beginning to show signs of maturity. Super with grouse.
