This is my new number one red Bourgogne brand for the CAD $20 and under. It has enough stuffing to deserve a place at the dinner table. Color is translucent crimson and the nose is bloody earthy generous. The palate gives a steady course of well selected fruit with a steady mid palate and very fine tannins with acid freshness in a balanced elegant package. Good savoury length provides that "one more sip" desirability that is key to wines for me. This Bouchard Bourgogne pinot stands tall against its peers that far too often can make one regret being so frugal. There should not be real bargains in Burgundy - but here is one that is overlooked because it is not in the Vintages section but in the regular stock shelves. Scoring it 85 would be too low, so 90 is where I score it. I would re-buy.

Medium red and clear in the glass. Strawberry, raspberry, and blood on the nose. Red fruit and mint on the palate. Long mint finish. Smooth and well-rounded structure. Really a very nice bottle of Bourgogne Pinot. At $18/750ml, an excellent value.
