Elegant and lovely wine. Very medium body and very dry. Fruit on the palate is dominated by cherry and pomegranate. Add vanilla, baking spice, and some savory notes. With a few hours, this wine blossoms with fuller-but-silky texture, baking spices, and just a touch of smokiness. Long finish too.

Smooth and fresh with a pleasant mouthfeel; when folks with resumes like these two are involved, you know it’s going to be a very well made wine! Renowned for their work in Burgundy, they took their skills far south to Minervois in Roussilon to produce this single varietal Cinsault from terroir they consider to be some of the best in the area. The result was...pretty good? Both the nose and palate were initially full of fresh ripe fruit (raspberry, pomegranate, plum, blackberry) – juicy, but not overextracted. From there, it was all savoury, beginning with baking spices, pepper, and fennel before moving into notes of forest floor and stone. Vanilla and cedar came through, and the wine had a coffee/bitter chocolate finish. However, despite being technically sound and enjoyable flavour-wise, it did seem to lack some intrigue or something special for me; in fact I had trouble coming up with anything – notably good or bad – to say about it. I suppose that’s in keeping with the good, but not great score. I’m hoping it was just an off bottle, and with their reputation as it is I’ll definitely be willing to give it another chance to amaze.

Tasted blind. Drinks like a Cru Beaujolais but 100% Cinsault. Lots of input from the producer, I guess. Rubber, spice and sweet cherry on the most. Restrained palate showing considerable finesse. Medium/High acid. Long finish of anise. Yum!

Stemmy nose with notes of honey, chile, chocolate. Good base oftannins with a rich aromatic concentration of plummy fruit at the back. Lovely balanced wine full of character. 50 + 16 + 16 + 8.

Weekly tasting group #206; Some tricky wines. (@ BS): In the bouquet cherries, raspberries and some minerals. On the palate raspberry youghurt, some herbs, mild acidity and soft tannin. It is a primary, clean, well balanced and elegant wine. I am not such a fan of those primary yoghurt wines. For my liking it would score 85 max. For the well balanced elegant quality it deserves at least 88.
