Bought for AU$40 on auction, the 2013 Yves-Cuilleron St-Joseph Les Pierres Seches is one of the best wines I've tasted at this price point this year. At the same time archetypal of the appellation, pleasurable, and structured, this is a knock-out on all fronts. On the nose, it delivers olive brine, red cherries, black cherries, forest floor, forest leaves, dried cranberry, thyme, some smokiness, and pepper. On the palate, it is elegant and mineral-driven, restrained by its 12,5% ABV, giving away blood and red fruits, beautifully balanced, with a lip-smacking dry and savoury finish.

12.5% - Clear, med+ ruby / clean, pronounced intensity - blackberry, freshly cracked white and black pepper, bacon fat, gamey, lilac, lavender / dry, med+ acidity, med+ fine grained tannin, med body, med to pronounced intensity, superb spicy & peppery notes with a delicate floral perfume.
After taking this note, I took a peak at my last TN from last year and it's pretty close to a cut & paste. Last bottle... the 13' definitely had an edge over the '14 vintage.

Gamey, floral, blackberry. Not thin for a 12.5 alc
