Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 91.5 points

  • Clear deep ruby/garnet; clean medium nose of musty/dusty library, dried blackberries, dried strawberries and leather; dry; high acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus to pronounced flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of cocoa and cassis; long finish; beautiful state of development - drink now or soon; we’ve been consistently impressed with the Last Drop releases; blinded against a 2012 Pintia and scored the same!

  • Very dark black raspberry in colour almost to the rim. Deep dark nose of blackberries, cocoa nibs, dusty leather and limestone. Medium-full bodied, crunchy fruit extract, good acidity, mostly resolved tannins, but what is left are a bit sandy. Similar palate as the nose with lots of blackberry and blackberry leaf, mulch and silt. A bit hollow in the mid-palate.

  • Delicious. Still a bit of tanins.

  • Deep magneta red but very pure in colour. Blueberries and black currants on the nose. Also beechnut, pencil shavings and ink. Medium full bodied, tart fruit extract, slightly chalky tannins and a long dry finish. The flavours are all in the dark purple and black range with hints of black bark and chalky minerals. Well balanced and food friendly. Another 92 pointer on the evening.  This one more in the fruit forward with backing structure style.

  • Deep black cherry with a ruby rim. Blueberries, beechnut, fennel, creosote and bittersweet chocolate on the nose. Very enticing! Medium full bodied, huge fruit extract, still a lot of tannins present but they are very fine, integrated alcohol and a dry finish. Oaked blueberry, tar, blue plum skins, camphor and chalky tannins. Really coats your gums and the roof of mouth. Poweful yet smooth. Fruity yet dry. Layers of dark flavours. I really like everything about this wine! Still seems a bit young.
