notes of vanilla at the start, strawberry, cream - a classic Trevallon. Silky texture, with rounded tannins, very smooth, long and memorable finish. Gets better after an hour+ of decanting. Perfect for drinking now (6/2023)

  • 13% abv, Drank in day 2, 1/5 left. Nose is medium intense, raisins, eucalyptus, dried prune, old leather, light smokiness from the charcoal, preserved citrus skins, earth and all spice. M+ acidity, somewhat coarse tannins and palate fading. But still showing there depth and elegance of Trevallon nevertheless.

  • Garnet with slight orange rim. Though the colour predicts a bottle with further evolution compared to the bottle I had in april, the nose is quite mute first and needs time to blossom up. The scents and flavors are the same as in april with the exception that I detect some minty notes presumely from the cabernet and later notes of black tea. Of course still quite tannic, so better with food now if you can't deal with this. I have doubts that this will ever become smooth or less tannic before the fruit beginns to fate. Nevertheless, at least for my palate, not unbalanced. 5/12/17/8 -2025

  • My last and best bottle - how often does that happen! Everything seems to have hit a point of balance, with acidity and fruit beautifully framed by the ripe rich tannins. Thank you as always Trevallon for making wonderful, exciting and original wines.

  • Cork in pristine condition. Deep garnet with no orange tint to the rim. Pnp. This welcomes you with intense red fruit scents, a bit of strawberries, cherries, garrigue, also forestfloor. Vibrant acidity, but not out of balance imho as other notes describe. The tannins are high and adstringent, what is a bit surprising given the vintage, but they are not unripe and there is nothing green here. Light on its feet as always and not very intense on the palate first. Nevetheless it benefits from airing. Two hours after opening the bottle it blossoms up and becomes more complex with more play and intensity (even black fruits now), no matter if decanted or in the opened bottle. This seems mature to me, but is going to age well at least for another decade possibly to shed some tannins in a cool cellar. This bottle was stored at higher than textbook temperatures since release, so it may be more advanced than bottles stored at 12°C or lower. The producer suggest 2 decades of ageability. This is not one of the top years as far as one can assess this now. Excellent anyway. -2030, 5/12/17/9, 93+
