Compared to 1997, this is much leaner, higher acid, focused. Does not show as much wood or depth of fruit. It’s very good in its way but not sure how it will age further at this point.

Brilliant from the first mouthful. Very light gold, with a gentle mousse. Poached peach, pear and a lighter citrus streak with hints of ginger, and a creamy edge just as a reminder of the oak; all with an overlay of light drizzled honey. Beautifully balanced and I would say at a peak now. ****1/2
