My final bottle. Didn't decant. Just pulled spur of the moment and into the glasses. Still a glass stainer, a real inky wine with no color loss that I can tell at 10 years old. Iron, dark fruit, a powerhouse of a wine with no fade in sight. Last 2 more decades? Probably so!

This is a big, very dark fruited wine. It's fairly tannic, but not as tannic as many PS wines I've enjoyed. I didn't find a lot of complexity, but PS can be a time capsule, that never changes, so the lack of secondary or tertiary development isn't that shocking. It's also still pretty young for some PS, although it lacked the hard edges those wines can have that speak to lack of maturity and future development. This was a very tasty wine, and enjoyed by our party, but I'm glad this was a gift, as it is a pricey bottle and I might have felt a tad disappointed paying more for this than some other fine bottles. That said, seriously made PS seems harder to find at any price these days--the markets can be fickle--so I'm glad we opened it with our big, beefy dinner.

PNP-Several bottles into the night so no formal notes. This Petite Sirah was poured after NV Salom Brut Rose', 14 Seven Stones & 16 Outpost T.V. Immigrant. Dense, dark fruit that was a nice pivot from the other wines and showed really well being the last bottle of the night. 92 with plenty of life ahead.
Last tried one of these back in early 2018, so just about two years ago. At that time, I felt a decant was a must. So for the TN here, I got the luxury of having a open bottle of 24 hours that simply sat on the counter overnight with several ounces in the bottle. No cork, no closure. This remains staining in the glass, although it would seem to my eye to be not as hauntingly dark as it was in 2015 when I had it for the first time. At that time, I called it the darkest wine I had ever had poured for me, and while it is still very dark, it doesn't stain like it did. To taste the wine, it does remains a mouthful of fruit and density, yet even that density with the amount of air we have given this bottle has softened it up, to. Dark black fruit, iron, charcoal, some rocky tannin and some finishing dark chocolate. Still a big wine but after almost 6 years post harvest, it's starting to soften and round out. Still have two left of these giants, a wine with a lot of power yet now beginning to fit into its adult pants and create a better balance of pleasure, too.

Exceptional Wine. Rich, mouth coater that has a finish that is not complex, but lingers. A GREAT wine with chocolate!
