Opened up last night with roast chicken - and it was amazing. Ripe delicous cherry on the nose and palate. Balanced with some nice tannins and acid and lots of fruit shining through. It had been buried in my cellar for years and was wary when opening it up. The cork fell apart a bit - but despite all that, as delightful and enjoyable a wine as I have had in many months. All at dinner agreed.

A remarkable bottle. Remarkable because the last bottle, eight years ago, was so abysmally alcoholic. This is balanced! It opens with lovely aromas of cherries and strawberries. On the palate there are saturated cherries and vanilla, followed by plums, with a satisfying, long finish. It is solidly bricked at the edge, but holding up exceptionally well.

Fully mature. Bricked at the edge. Loads of fruit buried by tons of alcohol. You can taste that there is a mature Pinot Noir hiding somewhere under the thick blanket of hot, disaffected vinosity. No signs of tannin. So many years in the cellar for this? What a shame. I have a recipe that calls for 16 ounces of red wine. Given that the alcohol will burn off, this will do nicely.

Coming to its end. Very soft, slight fruit last of 6 bottles.
