    Cork in good condition and decanted off significant sediment an hour before pairing with beef pinwheel steaks. Pours a nearly opaque purplish ruby. Ripe plum, mulberry, forest floor and orange peel on the nose. These carry forward to the palate with medium body, resolved tannins, ample acidity and nice balance. Well kept bottles of this are still in good condition.

    A little matured ruby colour. Vanilla and caramel taste with notes of black fruits (cherries, blackberries). Medium tannins with some residual astringency. Longer pleasant aftertaste.

    excellent long elastic cork, level lower neck, some coarse sediment, 2+ hours in decanter, still remarkably youthful colour, opaque black-red with no brown, nose of rich, warm fruit, good but a little rustic and hard, palate also opulent and rich, warm, fruit a bit extracted with distinct rather hard tannins at the finish, some alcoholic burn (14%), the ca. 8 years since the last bottle has seen a real improvement, softened a little but still rather primary fruit, now a good accompaniment to richly tasty food (in this case venison and pumpkin casserole), just entering its primary drinking window and will hold 10 years and maybe even soften further, improves with time and air in the decanter / glass, QPR for original release price not great

To find original 3.0lt bottles of Cote Rotie at this point (from the cellar) is quite rare, so take note. You can look up the scores if you need to but look for Suckling to give the overall vintage 100pts next week...) 1996 Klein aux Vieux Remparts “Burgreben” Riesling (Alsace) LIMITED 3/person They sent us an extra ten cases of this wine as they felt bad there was space left-over on a pallet - it’s not everyday that a winery “fills” a pallet with 12 year old Riesling at peak...obviously the amount of wine all of you ordered made an impression.
