  • on opening: cedar, cassis and some chokolate on the nose and palate, tannins and acidity seem to balance the fruit.

Left in decanter for 6-7 hours: This was just great, cedar was more or less gone but cassis and especially chocolate was very prominent.

If you like the other wines from this producer you will be very happy with this.

  • A little bit of fig and raisin on the fruit. Back end was very grenache like, with chocolate, vanilla and maybe a little cinnamon. This was fruit forward with subdued tannins.

  • I thought it was much better than some of the reviews I saw on cellar tracker. It had s nice fink to it that mixed well with the fruit. I had it with a paella (sacrelidge) and and it was great.

  • Deep inky purple in color; alcohol on the nose. Taste was a bit flat and unbalanced with high acidity but none of the tannins. May have waited too long for this one.

  • 2012 was a low-yielding drought-vintage in the Douro. Very opaque and monolithic colour. This is clearly extremely young. Bouquet opens with some air - nice porty fruit but on the simple side. Palate also with good fruit and depth but tarry and bittter. Flirting with overextraction. High alcohol (14%) hotly evident. Not very easy to enjoy at present. Air softens the tannins but not the extract and bitterness. I didn't much like this. A dribble left in the bottle overnight showed quite well for fruit the next morning although was still on the unfriendly and alcoholic side. Perhaps it needs 10+ years further cellaring. Not rated, but also not recommended at the price (£45 GBP).
