We joked that if we spilled a drop on the floor this would burn its way to China . Bit and muscular, lots of heat from the 15.6% alc which failed to integrate. Rich dark fruits, lots of muscle but also a bit unbalanced on the heat side. Almost difficult to enjoy for our taste. 89

Another wine I'm raving about from this vineyard- this is easily becoming my favorite winemaker in Oz. Decanted for half the day and was salivating as perfume of ripe berries and blackcurrants began filling the room. This is a velvety smooth, rich and fruit-driven wine. Loads of blackcurrants and jam punching you in the cheeks (in a good way), yet rounds off nicely with vanilla and toffee in the secondary. Very long finish. Great aging potential.

For all its heft and coffeed oak, this has lovely black and red fruit clarity. Big, but balanced and enjoyable. Very good in its style.

I shared this wine with work colleagues and they all went wow and wanted to know where they could get some. What more can I say. Absolutely delicious.

Moncur Syrah/Shiraz (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): ripe black berry fruit, cream, vanilla, chocolate…more of the same on the palate. It is what it is.
