Terrific l'Avion! Very perfumed nose of candied tangerines and honey. Very rich on the palate with apricot candy and a bit of citrus, maybe with some almonds. Honeysuckle finish that is long and rich. only slight drawback is lack of acidity, but this was superb with lobster tail in garlic butter! Seems to have lots of life left, but why wait?!!

Strange - I really liked the regular 12 Stolpman Roussanne, but I don't care for the L'Avion - probably because of the very pronounced perfumey after-taste and lower acidity - like many Viogniers. Aromas include honeysuckle, pear, stone fruit, nut, waxy notes and perfume. Full body, medium acidity. Long perfume, herbal finish - but not one that I care for. I keep hoping to develop a taste for this style of Viogniers and Roussannes, but it ain't happening.... I prefer higher acidity and less perfume.

Medium plus nose shows honey, candied orange, waxy hazelnut, sweet spice, lavender. Palate is lovely, big flavors, candied citrus fruit, lemon/orange, apricot as well, honeysuckle, almond shavings, acidity medium or lower (it's the grape), finish medium plus, complexity medium plus. Very good QPR.

At this early stage, the wine is fresh and straightforward, perhaps evidencing the oak too overtly. Over time, the sweet wood notes should subside and a more typical waxiness emerge, after which this should be really enjoyable.
