The palate is gorgeous, really, with honey and dust, and brown leaves. Beautifully aged, and in amazing condition, if the flavours are just a little simple perhaps. Tastes lightly oaked, but may not have been in reality. Light/medium-body; really very good, for a wine which was probably wasn’t really intended to last this long: the ‘museum reserve’ across the label slash surely wasn’t intended to push it on to twenty years.   Found forgotten in collection. Golden colour. Slightly oxidised nose. Weighty in the mouth. Some marmalade complexity but minimal acidity and fruit largely gone. Still very pleasant but should have remembered it 5 to 10 years ago.

  NobleRottersSydney - 1996 night (Lucio's, Paddington): Labelled 'Museum Release' so I'll hope this is the right wine. Yellow verging on gold. A touch of sweet wood, with marmalade & honey fruit, and almost a wisp of botrytis appears on the nose. The palate is all mouthfeel, with the acid very soft, and no trace of primary fruit remaining. Finishes very dry and perhaps a little hollow – the signs of oxidation beginning to become apparent. Still pleasant, although a glass or two is enough. No improvement left here – drink up!
