  • Unrecognizable label except “nee stvivant” so I had more curiosity than hope. Mid neck ullage. With the Durand it was possible to get the moldy old cork out, 85% in one piece. Pretty nose with still some fruit. Leather and mint and tea leaves on the palate. Surprisingly good considering questionable storage but it faded pretty fast in the glass.

  • Burg Dinner with Friends (Puligny-Montrachet): Bottle was in rough shape with a tattered label, mostly corroded capsule and a cork challenging to extract even with a Durand. The most peculiar thing about this bottle was the accumulation of mold atop the cork under the capsule. It wasn't the typical soft, fuzzy mold you often see, but rather a congealing gel that smelled like cheese (Époisses in fact). All that aside, the wine was pleasant, had plenty of remaining fruit with agreeable evolved maturity, just didn't really express Vosne in any real way.
