Nose - Boysenberry, chocolate and a whiff of smoke Palate - boysenberry, smooth, full mouthfeel, long finish. Pairing - spaghetti pomodoro, puglese bread. Perfect.
9/1/21 - Is equally good tonight with curried chicken over rice and coleslaw. Mmmmm, yum

On the nose, boysenberry jam and chocolate dipped dark cherries with attar of roses. Boysenberry jam and chocolate dipped dark cherries continue on to the palate along with a light earthiness. Wonderful full mouthfeel with great structure and velvety texture. Very good pairing spaghetti aand marinara, dark European-style bread and butter, would be even better with a meatball, meat sauce or paired with beefsteak of some kind or simply charcuterie.

A blend of the five noble grapes, this is a very good wine. Starts out a touch dark and brooding, but an hour in the decanter brings out cassis, blackberries, sage, and menthol. Shades of red fruit, cinnamon, and cloves too. The palate is smooth, chiseled, and structured, with plenty of dark chocolate and gravelly minerality found within the folds. It comes together nicely with a bit of air so it clearly has time ahead of it. Finishes with length and persistence. Nice.

Far too much French oak, but otherwise nondescript. Plenty of fruit if that’s your thing.
