Gorgeous nose with airy red berry scents mingling with spices, followed by a fine, pliant and sweet red berry inflected mouthfeel, while this is not uber dense, scents and flavors are gorgeously bursting with energy, ending in a fine chalky finish.

We did a vertical of 09,10,11,13 and 14. The terroir really comes through. This wine is elegant, quite intense, medium sized, acidity ok even in a warm vintage like 09 and high in other vintages. Notes of cherry dominate and turn to candied cherry and even kirsch (13) with age. Ranking them was the most interesting part. In order of preference: 14,10,09,13,11. The differences in quality are small apart from the 11 which while still very nice, is a step below. 14 is the most complex and complete. The main take away was that in Burgundy individual bottles and the wine maker's performance is a more important factor than vintages as 14 is clearly below 10 and 09. It also shows that Fourrier is very adroit in cooler vintages.

Initially: Tart, light-bodied, almost austere. With airtime and dinner (grilled chop): spicy, herbal-perfumed, nice light red fruit and balancing acid.

Though this is from Vougeot, it is really more Chambolle in character. This bottle only reinforces my belief that Fourrier did a fantastic job with his 14s. Classic Fourrier profile of sappy, bright red fruits. This is spicier and more floral than the Gevrey village wines, and there is some earth present too. Well-structured but still very accessible today. Delicious.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Brighter than the 2014, nicely fresh and vibrant with good enough weight. Tasty red and black cherry are very tasty right now.
