  • Distinct flavors of pineapple, orange blossom, lemon curd, cinnamon layered over noticeable wood threaded together with abundant acid. Less distinct flavors of baked apple notes and caramel tag along. A fine wine, but not as showy and unique as the Parmelee Hill. Some tartrates in the final pour. 14.3% alc. With steamed shrimp, sweet potato pudding, peanut soup in the company of BB & PH who joined us (all 3 of us with PM home from Iowa as transitioning to DC) for Christmas Eve. Recommended.

  • This is my first breech of my stash of 2014 Durell. The balance of the wine walks a very fine line. Exuberant fruit layered over noticeable wood threaded together with abundant acid. Baked apple notes, caramel, toasted cocoanut play well together. Layer upon layer of flavors. Pineapple, orange blossom, lemon curd, cinnamon. Some tartrates in the final pour. 14.3% alc. With crab ravioli (homemade pasta) in a tomato cream sauce. A wine so good, we pulled a second bottle .... but should not have(!) Highly Recommended.

  • Medium nose, baked apple, toast, bosch pear, vanilla, limestone, white flowers. Palate is clearly CA style, butterscotch, baked apple pie, cinnamon, cooked pear. Alcohol high, acidity medium, finish medium plus. Tasty if you like this style, it's a little over the top for me.
