Probably a notch or two off it's peak performance, with the fruit starting to fade, though it picks up some weight with air. All-in-all, still a very nice wine for the style (mid-weight, made more for pairing with food than on its own)

Caveat - my score and thoughts are predicated on an affection for SA wines, and this is one of the good ones. After an hour open, the nose shows a very perfumed green grass over red fruits along with a fairly strong hint of cinnamon and other spices. Initially when opened, this came across much more traditionally green without the nuances that developed over an hour. On the palate, a surprising cassis / resin note that keeps everything else in line. Without it, this would be a bit bright. With it, nicely balanced. A good pairing to a mixed salad with over-the-top garlic dressing, as well as with a homemade pizza with yet again more garlic! This wine is no "shrinking violet" and stood up to both dishes well.

Much better than last time, but I still just don't like the pinotage grape, I think. The earthiness is all well and good, but there is something that just seems sour to me. The other flavors of light cherries and white pepper are nice, but don't get me over the hump.

Some dominating black cherries, but is overall well-balanced and not overly tannic. Hints of mocha and hazelnut on the finish. Where this wine lacks is a finish that LASTS. That is what disappointed me and brought down the rating.
