From a half bottle, I think this was corked. I'm writing a note because if you could get past the wet cardboard smell, the palate actually had a pleasant mouthfeel, decent fruit and even some secondary characteristics. It may have just been weirdly funky, but I'm marking it corked.

Kind of agree with the previous 2 notes, with the caveat that this being my initial wrestle with Rancia, and expecting something a bit more barnyard and red, I could have been more attuned to it's black olive, tomato leaf, sandalwood, and morello cherry elements than I was I get the comparison to Brunello, but this is big and somewhat shapeless; not elegant Quite rich and saturated, but more melded and less specific than I was looking for over 4 days

My last bottle of this vintage, and it’s acceptable but not overly exciting. I have previously described this wine as somewhat heavy-handed on the palate, and today’s bottle would be consistent in that regard. To be honest, if this were served blind, I might not even guess Chianti.

Very dark, Ruby red; opened 1 hr; big nail polish nose, tart cherry in the background;not much to the mid palate except tannin;no charm in this bottle; tannin overpowers the finish; not a Sangiovese to my liking, seems more like a new world wine.
