My last 750 of this. I've had a lot of good reds this week (see my reviews) but this is the only one I would drink again in a New York minute. Full bodied Rutherford Cabernet with a slightly jagged and grippy mouthfeel. Blackberry compote, truffle oil, tar and tobacco, hint of black cherry cordial. Definitely a darker wine for sure. Finished with a lot of of grit, herbal dirty tannins. As it sat open and warmed a bit, some mushroom au jus and black olive started to appear. The wine is commanding. Opened up to be paired with a roast that had been slow cooking for 7-8 hours and was a great complement. I only have a magnum of this left and based on this experience from 750, I think that mag will sit for another decade!

Day one, this was very muted when served pop and pour. After about 2 hours, some black cherry, mint, purple fruit notes came out to play in the front, yielding to more of a tar and smoke tobacco finish with a hint of pepper. Still incredible dry oak tannin on the finish. Day 2, dang. Classic Rutherford Cuvee and a wine that would make Telitscheff proud. Worthy of a 95, but had to dial it back in because I don't want to make the $400 per bottle cult cab fanatics jealous that I spent $90 on this one. This one had everything on the nose. Black and blue fruit, purple fruit, iodine, leather, fig, black tea, mint, dates, walnuts. The entry was actually a little bit different and showed more of a black cherry and tea leaf kind of thing. A little 'dirty' in the middle but a solid black cherry core. Finishes with a little bit of acidity, but the Rutherford dust showed up on day 2 and dominated the finish with a hint of black pepper. So my overall take of this wine is that it still needs about five years before it should probably be enjoyed, which means I just need to go ahead and sign over my Magnum to my five-year-old daughter to pop when she is in her 20s....

Incredible! Herb nose and dark fruits & spices. And yes, of course, the R-Dust!
