  • First tasting of this Justin wine. A very full body. Opened many hours before dinner. A nice dark body. Black cherry on the palate. A nice spice. An awesome finish.

  • Jim Gerakaris CWE - Justin Winery Sommelier
Appearance: Deep, dark ruby core with a medium ruby rim and slow, moderately strained tears.
Aroma: Intense, showy and very complex, this wine grabs your attention with rich classic cabernet aromas of black cherry, blackcurrants and a little boysenberry, along with sweet spice and vanilla, cinnamon and licorice, mixed with cocoa and savory notes of cedar, oak and sweet tobacco with graphite notes.
Palate: Full-bodied and very complex with ripe cherry, cassis, plum, boysenberry, baking spice, cedar and mineral notes on entry. The mid-palate unfolds with a complex mix of continued fruit, spice and savory elements, with a little cocoa and firm tannins, all balanced by livly acidity, keeping this wine exceptionally food-friendly. Its finish is very ling and complex with some lingering cherry candy-like accents. Just entering its drinking window, this is a very classy cabernet that will continue to unfold, gaining complexity and nuance with each year as its flavor components integrate, creating new and interesting flavors and aromas.
Maturation: Aged 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, and 24 months in bottle.
