Not too shabby for an under $10 bottle of WA state Syrah with a few yrs under its belt. Nice clean dark fruit (a lil fakey), light pepper, and oak chips kickin in the back on a medium finish. I've had worse over $30 bottles from various areas.

Decanted over an hour before first glass. Nice complex nose of black currant, plum, blackberry jam with spicy edges of clove, licorice and leathery-oak. Taste is well integrated dark fruit with nice balance. Mostly black cherry with some pepper and cola. Short, but pleasant finish. One bottle to go, could still hold for 12 months, but not a lot of improvement expected.

An excellent offering and value from BG. Dark fruit on the nose includes black currant and plum with some floral and earthy gravel notes. Flavors of plum and pepper with some coffee, leather, dried herbs and pencil lead. Some gamey meat notes when first opened, but this evolved into smokey tones with more air. Will decant my remaining bottles for one hour. Holds up to an overnight vacuum cork, and shows no signs of going downhill, but this is probably best now through 2007.

Showing it's colors now without decanting. Black fruit on the nose (black currant and blackberry) balanced with coffee, leathery oak and licorice. Taste does evolve with a little air with fruit that starts out blackberry and eventually plum. Fruit is well balanced with coffee, cola and hints of pencil shavings and black olive. Finished on second day with little change, except the emergence of a dark floral note (violet). Can probably cellar for at least another 12 months.
