More of a curiosity than an enjoyment, at least for my palate. More chunky, floating precipitant than I’ve ever seen in a bottle of white. Heavy spritz on the palate that was still apparent on day two. Green apple, lime, lemon, and some freshly picked herbs that are familiar but I can’t identify. Also a slightly orange, oxidized note. Good acidity, though. My last bottle. I still have a few bottles of the D&R 2014 Semillon, but that’ll be it for my D&R whites. I’ve gone off them.

Time has done good things to this. Rounded it out, deepened it. Now a light, golden honey yellow, the previous pithy lime peel has turned more into a candied lime, not sweet but no longer with the scorching acidity. The Chenin is in the forefront but the blend keeps a lot more minerality in the wine than a straight Chenin would. Surprising amount of sediment.

Open That Bottle Night 2018 (Johns Creek, GA): An interesting blend of grapes which all seemed to be playing notes at the same time just not to the same rhythm, came off somewhat awkward.

PnP, but might suggest a quick decant. Mineral and some stone fruit on the nose. A palate full of apple, lemon, lime and mouthwatering acidity. Much more interesting, and intriguing, than a Jos. Drouhin Chardonnay Laforet consumed alongside. Should hold for a couple of years.

Amazingly three years later and this is unchanged from my last note. Still fresh though I’d recommend drinking now.
