Fifth time tasting over three years, consistent scores: Dark garnet-purple, totally opaque. Rich, powerful aromas just out of the bottle...blackberries, blueberries, roasted meat, bacon, leather, charred woods, black pepper, all beautifully blended. The flavors are surprisingly round, not at all heavy or thick, but still very intense and perfectly balanced, plenty of acid. Deep, dark, rich on the palate, carrying through to an incredibly long finish. Not quite as big as Stonessence, tasted alongside it, but a wonderful combination of power and elegance. Ric

Fourth time tasting over three years, consistent scores of 98 and identical notes: Dark garnet-purple, totally opaque. Rich, powerful aromas just out of the bottle right from the cellar...blackberries, blueberries, roasted meat, bacon, leather, charred woods, black pepper, all beautifully blended. The flavors are surprisingly round, not at all heavy or thick, but still very intense and perfectly balanced, plenty of acid. Deep, dark, rich on the palate, carrying through to an incredibly long finish. Not quite as big as In the Hills but a wonderful combination of power and elegance, this is terrific now and will easily last another few years. Ric

Building such momentum. Northern Rhône, mixed olive tapenade, lump charcoal, molasses, black raspberry, smoked salt. Day 1 excellent, Day 2 sublime.
