Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 91 points

  • Classice aged Pinot. Very light brick color, slightly barnyard upon P&P, quickly became floral/fruity. Silky on the tongue w/a long finish. Alas, my last bottle, but it was memorable.

  • no score given as this wine continues to confuse me. There is a hint of something wrong, like it is off or spoiled or something, which is there sometimes and sometimes not. It is a good funk and a bad funk at the same time. Good flavor and the tannins are pretty much fully integrated, as this is smooth to the taste, but again, the funk is dominant, and I just can't figure out if I really like it or don't like it at all. definitely one to try and see for your self.

  • Very interesting bottle of wine, especially taking into account the vintage. First night a very minerally wine, with more red fruits, and some decent tannin strcuture, but seeming to be integrating. Nose is intoxicating, with a hint of dirt and fruit and mineral and a bit of funk that is just too appealing to me. mouthfeel is very nice, but a little thin on day 1. finish seems a bit astringent, but can't tell if this is the tannins or just the base of the wine that will not change. 87-88 day 1. Had the last glass day 2 and this baby has put on weight and fleshed out. The red fruits have turned into plum, mixed with a hint of dirt and some mineral smell/taste to it and the finish has defininately picked up. Much better wine on day 2. 90 points. A very nice wine and I will try and hold off on the last two bottles for a year or two to see where they go.

  • Very Mercurey. Like liquid dirt. Very interesting. I might suggesting holding a couple years.

(de Villaine A&P Mercurey Les Montots) Medium colour - a ruby-red core which fades at its limits. The nose is bold, ripe and sweet, but then goes through a 10 minute phase where I suspect taint, 10 minutes later plum predominates for before becoming a little more diffuse. Needs some aeration for the palate to even-out, but then we have a relatively low acidity, silky and sweet wine, but with that faint edge of taint...
