Surprisingly this vintage held its own for 10.5 years since bottling in March 2005. Opened a bit tight and with a shorter finish. Over the span of 3 hours continued to develop dark fruits, a hint of spice and more velvety on the palate with a lasting finish. Paired well with Gruyere and cedar planked salmon. By the time we were done, we were only wishing it was a magnum so we could have continued to taste its development.
Big nose of strawberry jam and toast. Palate has medium-rich fruit with juicy acidity that keeps the palate fresh and lively. Great texture and mouth feel. Holds its 14.6% ABV well. Loads of berry and spice in the medium finish.
