What can one say of the Foxglove that is negative? A charming wine and very good quality at the price. A memento from the now deceased Garde Manger in La Grange. I think an excellent combination of the citrus fresh approach and the oaky buttery. It has balance and dimensions even if they are relatively muted.

Limited bottle age has definitely helped this wine. The last bottle almost drank like a Sauv Blanc; so high was the acidity as to be varietally incorrect (perhaps an off bottle?). This bottle was much different, and better. Nose: Nice bright pineapple and hints of slate and flowers. Palate: Excellent richness with a pleasantly contrasting acidity, and crisp pineapple flavors. Finishes cleanly. Nice effort from the Varner brothers! Extra point for QPR. Thanks Nate. I am now a convert.

Gibby's May Wine Club Tasting with Elburn Meat Market (Geneva, IL): Pale yellow color. Aromas of limestone, tart apples and a light touch of oak. Soft and supple on the palate, with richer fruit than the nose would suggest. Flavors of pear and melon, turning slightly tinny/metallic on the finish.

Excellent chardonnay at any price. At $10, best chardonnay for the price. Food friendly.

A good value featuring spice, lemon, pineapple and mild oak. Short to medium finish.
