Nothing like Chicago hospitality...; 4/6/2016-4/10/2016: Nothing like the last bottle I enjoyed. There's some ripe, sweet fruit here, but it feels a bit hollow and alcoholic at the same time, not showing any of the savoury or creamy depth I recall from my last experience with this. Consensus was that this was likely a heat damaged bottle.

Salil does Chicago 2; 4/6/2016-4/10/2016 (Chicago, IL): #06-98, 9% abv. I'm told this isn't the best example of this wine. There was definitely something slightly wonky about it. The elements here don't seem to be integrated very well, and the finish collapses in on itself. It even shows a little bit hot. I'm thinking slightly heat-damaged?

Awesome spatlese, brimming with vigour and energy yet plenty of developed flavours and super length. It's really in a sweet spot at the moment but I imagine it has plenty fo life left.

Impressive, though this seems to still need some more time in bottle. There's certainly some apparent development here with some maturing creamy and savoury flavours framing the bright peachy fruit and a spicy note hinting at botrytis emerging with air, but it's still rather rich and dense with the fruit smothering the structure. The length's remarkably long though, and I imagine this will be quite special in a few more years.
