  • Was worried we had waited too long after reading other notes but no, from a cool cellar this is still going strong. The sweetness and rich flavors are balanced and lifted by the remaining acidity. Cellar temp would be too warm given where this is, a bit above fridge temp (~50F) was perfect (on a warm evening).

  • Yellow orchard fruits and slightly musky. Palate is creamy, which is accentuated by the low acidity. I thought the sweetness was more akin to a Kabinett. While I enjoyed this wine, it got lost in the shuffle a bit. I tend to think that it is a bit past its peak. Drink now.

  • Liked but didn't love this - I greatly preferred the '99 Dellchen Kab that preceded this. It comes across a touch too creamy and soft for my taste, with lots of ripe pear and other white fruited flavours accented by some lemon cream and maturing savouriness, but the sweetness here overwhelms the low acidity, and I'm left wanting a bit more focus and energy.

  • Some comments regarding the 1999s got me curious to try one, and this was the first at hand. Well after a long period of lumbering slumber this wine at least has woken up and the sleep has done good things. It has slimmed down a great deal, and the acidity can now balance the sweetness, making a balanced, and dare I say it, bright Riesling that still retains some peach and cherry fruit as well as a rich underlying minerality. I wish I had more than one bottle left, as this is very fun to drink now.

  • Nicely integrated, drinking beautifully at refrigerator temperature. A bit watery on opening, but improves with plenty of air.
